Best Mexican Rice or Known as (Spanish) Red Rice

Mexican red rice - Spanish Rice

Spanish rice is another dish that if often in a Latino household. Weather it’s Mexican, Puerto Ricans, or any South American households we all love our variations of red rice. My grandmother made her Mexican (red rice) different than my mothers rice. My mother of course added a little extra flavor to her and I changed the recipe after watching a few others make their version of red (Spanish rice). I still make the rice like my grandmothers and my mothers when I am in the mood to add flavor and change it up but I have learned to make the recipe as easy as possible but still give it a wonderful flavor. Here I am sharing with you all my version of flavor in Mexican rice that is so easy and taste so good. I have pulled ingredients from Puerto Rican rice and from a friend of my moms when I watched her add this ingredients that I never thought to add.

3 cups of rice ( I like to use Jasmine but you can you what you have), 6 cups of water. I split it the water in my measuring cup of 4 cups (break up 2 tomato bouillon cubes) and 2 cups (add the 2 packs of Sazón Goya) make sure it’s the tomato and cilantro flavor package. 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, 1 teaspoon of cumin. you can also add 1 teaspoon of salt to add a little extra flavor but I tend to try to avoid the salt as much as possible. I have linked all the ingredients and items I like to use. When you heat up your cooking oil you can use any kind really some of my favorite cooking oils is avocado oil, olive oil, a garlic olive oil. I found a garlic oil that adds garlic flavor to my food. I love garlic so I use it in lot’s of my cooking. Vegetable oil and canola oils also work to make a good rice. Make sure your cooking pot does not stick. Find a good cooking pot that you can reserve for cooking rice on the stove. The post I use I mostly use it for my Spanish rice.

Spanish rice is served in so many different Mexican dishes at so many restaurants. Mexican rice can go in burritos or on the side. Put in in your taco salad even that will give the taco salad some good flavor. My kids love to eat the red rice by itself even. You can add some mayonnaise, that’s right mayo on top or mix some sour cream into the rice. Taste creamy and so good. I am sharing this recipe with you because it’s the one that I make the most for my family. it’s easy and cooks in less then 30 minutes and makes for a great side. I have made a TikTok video .
